Swimingo is a private, at-home swim lesson service. Our instructors travel to the client's own pool and teach one-on-one — one instructor, one swimmer, for the whole session. We work this way across the Greater Toronto Area and Metro Vancouver, and we are expanding into west Broward County, Florida. Every lesson is one-on-one in the client's own pool. You are matched with a swimmer — a toddler starting with safe entries and back floats, a school-age kid chasing a real freestyle, a teenager sharpening technique, or an adult who never learned properly — and you teach that swimmer for the full session. No rotations, no pool deck of kids waiting their turn, no lane to share.
Because the pool belongs to the family, the setting will change from lesson to lesson: a screened backyard pool on a Weston street, a gated community in Parkland, an acre lot in Southwest Ranches where the pool is one of several bodies of water on the property. Mobile swim instructor work rewards people who can adapt a lesson plan to the water in front of them and who are comfortable being a guest in someone's home. It also means you need your own reliable transportation, since you are driving to the swimmer rather than the other way around.
Swimingo's platform is built around instructors choosing their own schedule and work hours. You set the days and times you are available, and you set a customizable location range — the area you are willing to travel within — so lesson requests match where you actually want to drive.
We also take the hassle out of finding clients. Families come to Swimingo already knowing they want private lessons at home, so your time goes into teaching rather than advertising, chasing leads, or building a client list from scratch.
One Florida-specific advantage: backyard pools here do not close for winter. In a seasonal market, swim teaching work thins out in October. In Broward County, the availability you set in the fall is still worth something in January.
Swimingo instructors are independent contractors who set their own schedules — not employees. You keep control of your availability and your service area, and you decide which lessons you take. What Swimingo provides is the demand side, plus the scheduling and payment plumbing around it.
Pay is competitive, and the specifics — rates, how and when you are paid, and the terms of the contractor agreement — are confirmed with you during the application and onboarding process rather than published on this page.
Our Florida expansion starts in the west Broward County corridor: Weston, Davie, Cooper City, Southwest Ranches, and Parkland. Those five towns sit close enough together that one instructor's day can cover more than one of them, which is why we are building instructor coverage there first instead of spreading thin across the state.

That is the honest reason the job exists. In a corridor where so many homes have water in the backyard, teaching a four-year-old to turn around and reach the wall is not an enrichment activity. Instructors who take that part seriously are the ones we want teaching in these neighborhoods.
Applications go through Swimingo's instructor sign-up. You create an instructor account first, and the form then walks through your background and work experience, your certifications, the area and travel radius you want to work in, your preferred age groups and swim levels, and your weekly availability.
